Storer tenth in GC after penultimate stage of the Giro d'Italia

The last mountain stage of the Giro d’Italia was as hard as expected, with Monte Grappa to be ascended twice. Tudor Pro Cycling's Michael Storer gave everything when his GC contenders started dropping and finished 9th in the stage, entering the Top 10 of the General Classification on the penultimate stage of this Giro.

“The last climb was super hard, but I was feeling good," Storer said after the finish. "I made one little mistake when the group split. I should have stayed with the Decathlon riders instead of trying to move to the group in front. After that, I did most of the descent with O’Connor and Paret-Peintre and only lost a few seconds towards the end. But I am super happy I could ride with the best guys. I could feel I had great legs today and was optimistic I could follow and maybe reach the top 10 in the stage."

The GC result was confirmed only a few minutes later, after the gap to his rivals was verified.

That made Storer even happier. “I am super happy about this top 10. It shows that I can mix it up with the best guys for three weeks. If I keep improving, maybe I can turn this top 10 into a podium one day. I am now looking forward to the finish in Rome tomorrow.”
