Storer starts Tudor's Italian autumn campaign with podium finish and top 10

Tudor Pro Cycling's Michael Storer finished in the top 10 twice in Italian one-day races this week. The Australian cyclist came very close to winning the Giro della Toscana (2nd) and crossed the line in seventh place a day later in the Coppa Sabatini.

In the latter half of the season, Italian roads are busy with cycling races. In addition to the big races like Il Lombardia, there are numerous events throughout autumn.

Storer performed particularly well in what was, for Tudor, the opening of their autumn campaign in Tuscany.

Between attacks on the second passage of Monte Serra, Michael’s counterattack was well-timed before the KOM (with 30km to go). Together with Clement Champoussin, they built a gap that reached 40 seconds, dropped to 20 seconds, and increased again when the chasing group stopped working together. In the sprint, Michael had to settle for 2nd place, while German Marco Brenner finished 4th (second in the group of chasers) and claimed the title of best young rider.

Michael said, “Everyone in the team did a really great job helping Marco and me be ready for the last time up Monte Serra. I saw the opportunity to go early on the climb, so I joined a group of around eight riders. Towards the top, I attacked but couldn't drop Champoussin. From there, the course wasn’t very favorable for a solo attempt, so I worked with him to maintain the gap to the groups behind.”

In addition to racing in Italy, Tudor Pro Cycling is also competing overseas, preparing for the two big Canadian classics: GP Montreal and GP Quebec, happening this weekend.
